Author Bio
I was born in Lamar County, Alabama. Graduating from High School
in 1957, I served in the USAF until 1964. I was given on and off-base
writing courses while stationed in Clovis, New Mexico, becoming an
administrative specialist.
The USAF transferred me to Alaska, and my first assignment in writing
was working for the base Sergeant Major on Elmendorf AFB, at
Anchorage. This was the command section of the Alaskan Air Command;
we wrote policy letters for the Base Commander, Colonel, Ralph E.
Wanderer.
I married Judy Funderburg in 1965, we have two sons, Andy and
Daniel. During the following years, I worked for the GAF Corporation, in
Mobile, Alabama, and Joliet, Illinois, and attended college on the GI Bill,
earning a degree in Business Management, continuing as a part-time
student, taking only English courses, I also attended two writer's
workshops. I spent the last fifteen years before retirement working for the
BIVAC and Intertek Corporations as a government inspector for goods
being exported to foreign countries. Currently, Judy and I live in Hamilton,
Alabama.
My writing was limited for years, because of time spent on my day job,
and the only thing I could get published was letters to the editor in a local
paper, and still write short stories for "Tombigbee Country," a local
magazine. To date, I have published 4 novels, my latest is "Rosa's
Revenge." My books are listed for sale on most of the on-line book
sellers, "Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million.
My favorite novel of all time is "Catch 22," by Joseph Heller, about the
Army-Air Corp pilots of WWII, favorite Southern writers are: Faulkner,
Tennessee Williams, Richard Wright, Greg Isles, John Grisham and
Winston Groom. At this time, I am fascinated by Cormac McCarthy, who
wrote "All The Pretty Horses," and "No Country for Old Men." His latest
work is "The Road," soon to be released as a major motion picture.
